News Roundup: Two Roads Brewing Is Here, Night Shift’s New Release, Maine Beer Company Dinner & More

It’s been a very busy day for craft beer all around today. First and most importantly, Firestone Walker‘s Parabola has arrived alongside another one of their gems, the Opal farmhouse ale. Both are excellent beers but the former is both rare and highly sought after so securing a bottle won’t be easy.

But let’s change our focus and talk about more local beers including Two Roads Brewing from Connecticut. As some of you might heard, they’ve now, as of this week, expanded into Massachusetts and can now be found in many stores. And while they’ve been busy expanding, they’ve also announced a new, annual tradition that they will be holding at their brewery which is located in Stratford, CT. Since the first Saturday in May is usually Kentucky Derby day, a day that many celebrate, they’ve decided to create and release a new beer, annually, on that day starting next week. The beer will be known as Conntucky Lightnin’, and it will be “an ale aged in bourbon barrels supplied from Kentucky…a fitting reason to release Conntucky Lightnin’ on the same day as the Run for the Roses.“. The beer will be available on draft on Saturday starting at noon and while no growlers will be available for purchase, they will have some mason jars branded with the beer’s logo and 750ml bottles of it will be available as well.

And then we have an update from the ever-busy brewers over at Night Shift Brewing. They haven’t moved to their bigger brewery yet and don’t have a date in mind but in the interim are happy to announce that their newest creation, Grove. Grove is part of their warm-weather seasonals and is a best described as a farmhouse saison infused with fresh Meyer lemons & Ruby Red grapefruits. The beer comes in at 6.9% A.B.V. and is available starting right now, at the brewery and it will also be hitting the shelves in and around Boston at the various retailers who usually have some Night Shift allocations. And a few lucky bars are also expected to have it on draft as well.

And then there’s some news coming from the North. Maine Beer Company has just announced a new release date for their second batch of Dinner. This is their incredible, double IPA and it will be released on May 21st at the brewery. Approximately 15 bbl will be bottled for sale out of our Tasting Room only. A limited amount of draft will be served in the Tasting Room as well but be sure to get there early as lines are expected. The brewery will also be present at BeerAdvocate’s American Craft Beer Festival which is to take place in Boston in a month but no word as to whether or not they’ll be pouring Dinner there.

Last but not least, the guys from Drink Craft Beer have announced a new edition of their Summerfest. The event will be taking place on Friday July 18th and Saturday July 19th at Space 57 in Boston’s theater district. More than twenty five craft brewers will the showcasing their summery beers and farmhouse ales. Tickets will be going on sale tomorrow morning at 10:00AM EDT.
