Lewiston, Maine-based brewery Baxter has announced that they will be launching a mixed ‘backpack’ of their current and seasonal beers for all to enjoy. Already famous for being an all-canned brewery, one of the first in the industry, their CEO Luke Livingston has announced “Cans are already the most portable kind of packaging in the industry, and packing them in cardboard 12-packs makes them even more convenient. Our ‘Backpacks’ will have three cans of each of the three production beers, plus three of the current seasonal.”
You can expect these mixed packs to launch next January and their first packs to be released will feature their Pamola Xtra Pale Ale, Stowaway IPA, Amber Road amber ale and Phantom Punch Winter Stout.
Furthermore, they’ll also be releasing a style of beer which is almost non-existent: an imperial hefeweizen which will be known as ‘On the Count of Three’ and which is to be brewed to celebrate their third anniversary. They’re only making one batch of it, and this will be a one-time release. It’s expected to hover around 7% A.B.V. and will feature notes of banana, cloves and bubblegum. Expect that beer to hit the shelves around mid-January as well.
Baxter has been doing very well and are expected to double their capacity from 12,000 barrels to 25,000 over the next year, making them the third larger Maine brewery in terms of output. This will also translate into more experimentation on their part and smaller releases as well.
