We had recently reported that Watch City Brewing out in Waltham was shutting down their operation. Well there is now official confirmation of the new occupant and lessee of the former Watch City Brewing and it is a new outlet of the famed Beer Works chain. This Waltham location will be their eighth location as they continue to expand.
Waltham Councilor Robert Logan confirmed a meeting with Beer Works owner Joe Slesar last Wednesday. He also confirmed that the licensing is in process and that once it is secured, there will be several months of renovations to the now empty space formerly Watch City Brewing. That being said, all is not completely lost regarding the former landmark watering hole: the new Waltham Beer Works will pay tribute to the former brewery by not only trying to acquire the former Watch City clock, but also by naming a to-be-determined tap beer after the local predecessor.
Many of the neighboring businesses applaud the well respected business for jumping into a lease for the space to keep the downtown Waltham nightlife and business attractions going strong. It is all about drawing in the local residents and working professionals to keep more high profile businesses coming and joining in the small family mom and pop stores to draw a broad customer base.
The address of the soon-to-be Waltham Beer Works is 256 Moody Street, Waltham, MA. Please stay tuned for further updates down the road.
