World-famous, Belgium-based Brasserie Cantillon Brouwerij have an annual tradition that has been taking place every single year for the past few years and which marks the release of their annual beer known as Zwanze.
This year’s Zwanze 2014 will be known as “Cuvée Florian”, after the brewer’s son’s name and is a fitting tribute as his son just turned 18 years of age. This year’s batch has been described as a blend of Iris Grand Cru with 40% less fruit in it as they were trying to avoid re-creating a lambic. Instead they used some rare and amazing Bramling Cross hops to give it a floral bouquet that lingers and that will most likely knock your socks off.
And since Zwanze Day is celebrated internationally, with bottles hitting bars in 16 different countries, here’s the list of places that will have it come Saturday September 20th:
- Armsby Abbey — Worcester, Massachusetts
- Hill Farmstead Brewery — Greensboro, Vermont
- Lord Hobo – Cambridge, Massachusetts
- Novare Res Bier Café — Portland, Maine
So mark your calendars and get ready to try some rare, world-class beer! And while no details have been released as to how many those spots will be getting or how much they’ll charge, the demand is sure to exceed the supply to just keep that in mind. And if you want more information about Zwanze Day 2014, the brewery has a special page which also includes other bars involved in the celebration. That page is located right over here.
We also got word that Lord Hobo will be opening at 11AM that day to accommodate the lines and that Hill Farmstead had a lottery system in place for people to reserve a spot and that has already been completely filled and is therefore sold out. Make sure to check social media outlets to make sure that you can secure a spot before attempting to drive out to a spot for it. We’ll do our best to keep you posted via our Facebook page and/or Twitter page as well. Good luck!
