Wilcox Group To Honor Bukowski With Craft Beer Series

The Wilcox Group are going to honor the world-famous, American author Charles Bukowski’s 20th death anniversary by releasing a series of craft beers brewed alongside a variety of partnering craft breweries.

The series, which will be known as the “R.I.P. Series” will be released through 2014 and a portion of every pint sold will be donated to a literacy organization.

Here’s the official press release:

Cambridge, MA — Bukowski Tavern is excited to launch a new craft beer series called the “R.I.P Series,” to be released throughout 2014, by season, in collaboration with a number of craft breweries. A portion of every pint sale will be donated to a Boston literacy organization, TBD at the launch.

The #RIPSeries commemorates the 20th anniversary of Charles Bukowski’s death. The official launch party will be held on the anniversary of Bukowski’s death day, March 9th (this Sunday), at Bukowski Tavern in Cambridge. The first beer in the series is by Portico Brewing Company and Bukowski, brewed at Watch City. It is a Hibiscus Red Ale called “Pulp,” named after Bukowski’s last novel before he died.

The different and rare styles of “home brews” brewed by Bukowski Tavern and the brewers will be available exclusively at the following locations: Bukowski Tavern (Boston and Cambridge locations), The Lower Depths, The Tip Tap Room, Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake, Estelle’s, and Parish Cafe (both locations). These bars/restaurants are all part of the Wilcox Hospitality restaurant family.

Spearheaded by Justin Lipata (Buk’s Cambridge) and Chris Sheridan (The Rattlesnake), the effort will bring exciting, unique and brand new styles of craft beer from breweries such as Harpoon, Rising Tide, Clown Shoes, Jack’s Abby, Cisco and many more.

No further information or release date for their first beer has been released but stay tuned for more information.
